it's my last day of work today
and boy, am i glad
can finally finally take a breather, relax, go for gym classes, plan my mods for next sem, shop, and basically just relax
hmm, let's just say i learnt a lot of lessons this year
because each year is different
and the same things may be done differently
and like i said earlier, taking a back seat may not be a bad thing
cos you get to learn stuff behind the scenes
from how people handle business and situations
and you assess and criticize and you judge for yourself what works and what don't
which are pros and which are cons
and you learn mostly what works so you can apply in the future
and you caution yourself against what doesn't work out as well
the most important thing i guess is that everything ends in good faith
a little well-intentioned gesture goes a long way : )))

the toughest project i got was taking the shanghai media case
the organizers are a bunch of journalists for this shanghai newspaper and they organize this english-immersion programme every year for small (read: rich) kids in shanghai to come to singapore to learn (read: play)
i'm glad cos i overcame my fear of tackling the shanghai teachers and students, conducting treasure hunt for them at botanical gardens cos they were seriously the fussiest clients i ever faced, fussier than any indonesian, or hongkies or taiwanese or vietnamese tour groups
in my honest opinions, i thought it was rather successful cos the kids were all enjoying themselves
although i was struggling with my sub-standard chinese
talking to the kids/teachers was intimidating and a chore cos half the time, i couldn't understand their chinese
i had to go "huh" like at least 3 times and i still didn't understand what that kid was talking about
they were speaking in such strong accents!
yes, i was damn intimidated by those 6 year-old kids cos their chinese was more zai than me -_-
i should just shoot english back at them man
mummy reckons that i should be banished to shanghai for 3 years
so that being immersed in a chinese-speaking environment, my chinese will be more zai when i return to singapore
and my boss retorted "你在学校学高级华文学到哪里去了?" when i asked him how to translate marbles into chinese
in my defense, i argued that singaporeans usually use the term "marbles" or "goli" and not "弹珠"
and although i asked him how to translate that term into chinese, i forgot what it was called, like 5 seconds later
anyway the interesting thing is that when their teacher was lecturing them, he loved using the 4-worded 成语 which i couldn't understand for most of the time
plus he loved starting every sentence with "古人说。。。" or "所谓。。。" and which i also didn't understand the whole time
think it would have been very fascinating for me to be spewing these 4-worded 成语 and 歇后语 so everybody else will think i got 墨水, haha

so yes, i digressed a whole lot
and i was at me and my last day of my job
so i went to kuishibo today, like finally
everybody has been telling me how great the buffet at kuishibo is
but i never really got the opportunity to try
and today, i can understand why
they have lots of stuff there! crabs, lobsters, sashimi etc
and i stuffed myself silly with all the sashimi they had, tepanyaki, fried stuff, seafood soup
and most importantly, the dessert
the dessert there rocks big time!
i stuffed myself with all the tiramisu, mango pudding, ice-creams, iced lime, small mango and oreo cakes, watermelons etc etc etc
until i nearly wanna puke everything out

caught harry potter on monday at vivocity
that evening was a great chilling out night!
contrary to what everybody said about the movie (negative responses)
i thought it was pretty good!
especially the effects and the majestically-prepared props!
superb!
maybe everybody felt that a large part of the content of the book was being omitted/altered
which led everybody else to feel let down, not being that true to the book
but i kinda expected it to happen, judging from previous harry potter movies experiences
so maybe i didn't feel that let down in that sense
plus the seats at vivo max were fantastic, haha
or maybe i'm just a true blue harry potter fan
jie also mentioned that their british accents were too strong for her to understand
and she hadn't read the book, so she didn't manage to catch the meaning of some of the terms
oh well, just read the book lorzz ; p

now i'm super excited about the final book that's coming out cos i read lots of teasers and supposedly spoilers on the internet
and it made me more anxious to want to read about the ending!
i'm so gonna join the queue at borders at 7.01 am : )))

after catching the movie, we headed to simpang bedok for supper (dinner)
and after much complications, i'm known as candy lim, omg
even i think it sounds damn horrendous, yucks
but i love chilling with my people : )))
